website news..

Hi my new website is up and running if you are interested in looking at my art practice. It is angel@angelhomer.co.uk.

One week to go

Isn't it exciting one week to go.
I am knitting like crazy. My poor husband is being driven insane. Click click through Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Eastenders. Even Bertie Bassett is given me dirty looks. When will the knitting stop?.
Sad truth is even when the project is finished the knitting will continue it is an obsession like cheese and chocolate a guilty pleasure. Knitting has been my life since I was knee high to a grass hopper. I used to sit round my nan's house clicking away, losing stitches and making holes. She had the patience of a saint . She used to put right my work and show me again. If she showed me once she showed me a thousand times but we got there in the end.
In later years my Mother in law Val used to show me how to do certain stitches. She showed me how to Knit some funky baby boots. She was also very patient. sadly she is no longer with us. I inherited her Knitting needles and her Garden shed. Which is  now converted into an art studio. She always took an interest in my art and it's these inspirational people that  remind we why I want this project to be a success.

My Mother in law would have said it was a crazy idea. But I know she would have knitted for me. She understood that Fine art can be crazy.

I have been asked where knitting collection is taking place.
you can contact me at angelhomer@ymail.com and arrange for us to collect.
you can take to the lower gardens. boxes will be there 10am-5pm
or you can drop at my home address which I will give via e mail.

Garter stitch on 10mm needles(Knitting)

pompom made by Gateway

More pompoms
Hi The Exhibition is nearing and things are finally coming together. We are sewing frantically so that the stream will flow in time.

Gateway have been making lots of pompoms as You can see in The photographs. One Gateway member brought in a coat hanger covered in pompoms that she had made a home. She is truly dedicated to our project . These will look great on the stream and will make decorative scarves afterwards.
We still have new people joining us and knitting for us. I have been blown away by everyone's enthusiasm and dedication.
Knitting can be collected if you e mail me or it can be brought down to the lower gardens from next friday 27th April. There will be two boxes for you to fill up. one at the entrance and the other at our knitting station. At the reception you will be given a map we are now number 9 on the map and are easy to find.
300FT plus of knitted stream should be easy to see.
This of course will grow and grow until all that can be seen is knitting.
A Gateway member brought these in from home she has been busy all week.

more pompoms.
Please keep knitting and send your photos in and stories for the blog? Please feel free to Contact me if you would like your knitting collected. angelhomer@ymail.com. Isobel and I will be out and about and can drop by at a convenient time with you. Last day for knitting is 7th May 2012. Thank you to everyone who is helping. Visually our stream is going to look fantastic and it's all down to your enthusiasm and dedication to this project.

The Stream Is Flowing

Hi
Today we have received some more donated pieces. I had a parcel from Germany with beautifully Knitted pieces in lovely colours and textures. They will look absolutely brilliant on the stream. It is always exciting when we receive parcels. It feels like christmas every day.
I have had loads of e mails offering help after yesterday's piece in The Bournemouth Evening Echo. I have e mailed these kind people back saying I would love them to help us. It's amazing how many people have been interested in this project. It is true that Knitting brings people together,

Update

HI
Today we had a piece in The Bournemouth Evening Echo asking for more helpers.
Wow I have been inundated with offers  from Knitters throughout Bournemouth and Poole. Thank you for joining us in this mammoth task. I have been to the Happy club in Parkstone today where  more pompoms were made. Everyone is really enthusiastic about the project and I have to admit I am going to be lost when it's all over. I am knitting in zigzag stitch at the moment. 10 rows of pattern but enjoyable.
We received our promotional postcards . These will be available free to all at the reception desk in the lower gardens during the Exhibition.
Due to today being a College day I haven't uploaded the latest photos. These will appear on tomorrows blog. The stream has grown  another 13ft approx. We should be on target to reach 300ft by the weekend. Now we have more help anything is possible and we really could achieve the goal of 3/4 of a mile. We will be doing a mock up installation next week which will give us a chance to measure up and photograph. During the Exhibition we will measure daily and photograph all donations . Photographing Each section so we will have a continuous visual piece. These will be blogged so the progress can be charted.
Remember we want your comments and stories as well as photos please keep these coming in. It makes the blog interesting. angelhomer@ymail is the place to send them or leave your comments on the blog.
A Big Big Thank you to You all for making this all possible

HI Everyone
We are doing really well with the knitted donations
Isobel is sewing like mad as the stream flows on.

Some people are busy knitting lengths and some squares.  They are all being stitched together so as we can reach our target. Three quarters of a mile. At the moment we have about 260ft sewn.  We have Yet to measure the latest donations. We still have a short time left. so nothing is impossible. We have  until the 7th of May 2012
Here are the latest photos.
Ties made by The Gateway Members
The knitted lengths and squares etc don't have to be a continuous  colour . You can experiment  stripes, or fair isle  can be used. The stream will look really jazzy. You can experiment .

Stocking stitch (Knitted) Stripes
We have started to receive some of your Knitting stories They are really lovely you can send us these and images /  via e mail angelhomer@ymail.com and www.ravelry.com. via the forum. . We love to hear them. The stories can be about why you knit? Knitting successes?  / Failures ? Nostalgic memories of knitting or knitted pieces. It is as important to our project as the knitting. So please keep sharing the stories with us and your photos of your work
A big thank you to everyone  who is participating in the project
